The Upper Paleolithic burials from the Russian cite of Sunghir are some of the most archaeologically elaborate graves known from this time period. While the material remains from Sunghir are well-known, less attention has been paid to the analysis of the human remains themselves. Dr. Trinkaus' talk will focus on synthesizing both archaeological and biological approaches in the analysis of these important remains, while situating them within the broader context of other Upper Paleolithic burials. 3:00pm
