Dr. Jeff Bennetzen is chair and professor of genetics at the University of Georgia. He is well known for his research on the intricacies of the plant genomes and has studied corn, wheat, barley, rice and sorghum. Bennetzen’s work has earned him several awards, including election to the National Academy of Sciences (2004). He is also an American Association of Science Fellow (2005), a Guggenheim Fellow (2008) and a Norman Giles Eminent Scholar.
